The little Centaur

The Petite Centaurée is a full-grain leather crossbody bag with a chic, timeless style, appreciated for its comfort and naturally secure closure. 

The Model

Created in 2018, the Petite Centaurée was born from the desire to revisit a classic of leather goods: the crossbody bag. After several years of experience, I wanted to create a true handbag that was chic, timeless, and instantly recognizable. From the moment it was launched, it became one of Faméthic's most popular models, eventually becoming the brand's bestseller. Its success then led to the creation of the Centaurée, designed to offer more capacity while retaining the same spirit.

Its identity is based on volumes entirely defined by curves. The soft lines, rounded shapes, and absence of visible metal hardware give it an elegant, harmonious, and timeless silhouette. Yet, behind this apparent simplicity lie many design choices intended to improve everyday use.

In particular, I wanted to create a completely concealed closure that was both more discreet and more secure than an exposed one. The flap naturally guides the hand: it opens easily with one hand, closes almost by itself, and naturally returns to its position. This simple operation, accompanied by the light characteristic sound of the closure as it engages, contributes as much to the pleasure of use as to the model's sense of quality.

This search for balance is also reflected in the design of the bag. Rather than widening the flap, I deliberately narrowed the top of the bag's body to create a subtle shoulder-pad effect. This detail protects the sides of the opening, conceals the shoulder strap attachments, and limits water ingress or items falling out when the bag is open. An almost invisible design choice that permanently improves comfort of use.

Since its creation, the Petite Centaurée has hardly changed. Today, it is one of Faméthic's iconic models, both for its style and its comfort of use.

Material

This model is crafted from full-grain calfskin leather from the Italian artisanal tannery Virgilio Conceria Artigliana, which specializes in vegetable tanning. 

Dyed through with natural pigments, this leather develops a deep patina over the years that gives it all its personality. Handling, light, and time gradually reveal its richness and make each bag unique.

Production

Each Faméthic bag is handmade in my workshop from carefully selected full-grain leathers.

Each step—from cutting to assembly, including sewing—is carried out with precision, one movement at a time, to ensure the quality, strength, and durability of each piece.

Made-to-Order Production Process

This model is made especially for you after your order is confirmed. 

Production begins in my workshop using the leather and color you have selected. This approach allows each piece to be made at the workshop's pace, without mass production, while offering a wide choice of leathers, colors, and certain customization options. 

The average production time is approximately three weeks. It may vary slightly depending on the time of year, the availability of certain leathers, and the workshop's workload.

Care

The full-grain leather selected for this model is designed to develop a beautiful patina over the years. Handling, light, and signs of use naturally contribute to its evolution and make each bag unique. 

This leather requires little maintenance. Occasional conditioning with a suitable balm is generally enough to preserve its suppleness and support its natural aging.
