The Alfa

A leather document bag with a distinctive character, designed for those seeking understated, timeless elegance. 

The model

Conceived in 2018 from a prototype made for my own laptop, the Alfa was born from a very personal need and developed with a customer looking for an understated, timeless document bag for her partner. 

Its clean lines, large full-grain leather panels, metal fittings, and discreet handles give it an instantly recognizable personality. Inspired by traditional document bags, it boasts understated elegance and a distinctive character that stand the test of time without following trends. 

Designed to hold a laptop, documents, and everyday essentials, the Alfa surprises with its capacity. Its deliberately slim format conceals generous volume: with use, the full-grain leather gradually softens and naturally adapts to its contents without losing its shape. 

Originally conceived as a document bag, it quickly found its place with a wide range of customers. Students preparing for a thesis defense, professionals on business trips, freelancers, or lovers of beautiful pieces: many chose it for the image of professionalism and elegance it exudes. Some customers have even adopted it as a handbag, drawn to its minimalist design and unique character.

• Maximum internal dimensions: 35 cm wide, 27 cm high. 
• Internal depth varies depending on the amount of documents placed inside: between 0 and 5 cm.  
• Designed to accommodate most 15-inch laptops.

• 2.5 cm wide strap, adjustable between approximately 70 cm and 145 cm with a sliding buckle, and removable thanks to two snap hooks. 
• Magnetic snap closure.

Material

This model is crafted from full-grain calfskin sourced from the Italian artisanal tannery Virgilio Conceria Artigliana, which specializes in vegetable tanning. 

Dyed through with natural pigments, this leather develops a deep patina over the years that gives it its full personality. Handling, light, and time gradually reveal its richness and make each bag unique.

Production

Each Faméthic bag is handmade in my workshop from carefully selected full-grain leathers.

Each step—from cutting to assembly, including sewing—is carried out with precision, one step at a time, to ensure the quality, strength, and durability of each piece.

How made-to-order production works

This model is made especially for you after your order is confirmed. 

Production begins in my workshop using the leather and color you have selected. This approach allows each piece to be made at the workshop's pace, without mass production, while offering a wide choice of leathers, colors, and certain customization options. 

The average production time is approximately three weeks. It may vary slightly depending on the time of year, the availability of certain leathers, and the workshop's workload.

Care

The full-grain leather selected for this model is designed to develop a beautiful patina over the years. Handling, light, and signs of wear naturally contribute to its evolution and make each bag unique. 

This leather requires little care. Occasional conditioning with a suitable balm is generally enough to preserve its suppleness and support its natural aging.

Usage tips

The Alfa is a document bag with deliberately very slim lines. To help it retain the elegance of its silhouette, make sure to distribute the contents across its entire width rather than concentrating your belongings in the center. The full-grain leather will gradually soften and naturally adapt to your usage habits. 

During the first few months, the lower corners may tend to stay slightly closed if the bag is always loaded in the same way. If necessary, you can gently open them by sliding a small metal rod with a rounded end (for example, a paper clip) inside the stitching, specifically in the lower corners. A few passes are generally enough to restore the corners' natural opening when necessary. 

As with all Faméthic models, regular leather care will help preserve its suppleness and support its evolution over the years. In case of rain, simply make sure to close the document bag properly to protect its contents.
